Food Security Bill or National food security Bill at a glance

FOOD SECURITY BILL

FOOD SECURITY BILL DRAFTED AND PRESENTED IN PARLIAMENT IN 2011 HAVE THE FOLLOWING PROVISIONS:-

 * It will cover 64% of the population and population categories as Priority and General.
 * The Bill will cover 75 % of the rural population and 50% of the urban population.
 *Priority category gets 7 kg of food grains per person per month and general category get 3-4 kg food        grains.
 * Priority categories get
    Rs-3/kg Rice
    Rs-2/kg Wheat
    Rs-1/kg Millet
*And general category get 50% of the support price.
*And pregnant women get cooked food from aanganwadis.

FINAL OR CURRENT FOOD SECURITY BILL HAVE FOLLOWING:-

 *It will cover 67% of the total population.
 *All beneficiaries will get 5kg of food grains per person per month.
 *It will cover same 75% of rural population and 50% of the urban population.
 *Maternity benefits of Rs1000 a month for 6 months.
 * All will get food grains at uniform cost as mentioned above.

If enacted it cover two third of population or about 87 corer people.
